Whiteside Permian Fest

Over the weekend (Feb 20th), Suzanne, Kate, Michelle and Vince went to an amazing festival. They participated in a fossil dig. The following are photos from that trip. Definitely, this is place you too might want to visit if you like fossils. Certainly, is on my list now! Thanks to Suzanne, Kate, Michelle, and Vince…

East Side

East Side

Turning at the small grotto, I worked my way along the east hillside above the ravine. This was one I wanted to watch for a moment, the Spotted Cucumber Beetle (Diabrotica undecimpunctata). Its little antennas were so wiggly. At the end of the seedhead, it stayed only a moment longer. Then it headed back down….

West hillside

West hillside

Yesterday, I left you looking at the hillside. In the open, I was working my way back to the other side of the ravine. Tomorrow, I will finally be on the east side of the ravine. Furthermore, I will reveal if the Trout Lilies were sprouting yet on February 19th. Chemical signals from fungi tell…

Still Searching

Still Searching

On the west side of the ravine, I continued on with my search for emerging Trout Lilies. Of course, I had my eyes open for other good stuff. Suzanne shared a few of her trail photos from the Fairfield Lake State Park. Last chance to visit the park is Feb. 28th. Thanks Suzanne for the…

Same path but the reverse

Same path but the reverse

It was hard to turn back, but it was getting late. However, different things are always seen on the same path. Why? Because now you have a new side to view or you were looking left when stuff was on the right side. 🙂 It was much harder to take a movie without Jeanne. However,…

Shedding a light jacket, I headed down into a ravine. Robo-bird teaches young zebra finches to sing Snakes Can Hear You Better Than You Think Keep looking! The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know

No Bright Eyes

No Bright Eyes

A beautiful sunny day led me to the grasslands on the 13th. And I only required a couple layers of light clothing. Unlike today with wind gusts of 31 mph and the high of 44 degrees. Indeed, brrrrr! This device corkscrews itself into the ground like a seed This bioinspired seed carrier has an 80…
