Really
Another early morning survey was done yesterday. Two more to go. So we REALLY can’t help ourselves. LOL Update: See Suzanne’s important comment below. Keep looking! The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know
Welcome to my nature blog! I love sharing my photos of North Texas! I will keep looking out and hope you do too.
Comments welcome. Thank you, Mary
Yesterday was the First Wednesday outing. Guess how many were there…three, Jeanne, Jerry and myself. Call us glutens for nature. LOL Even though I had been to the same area several days ago I saw different stuff. Nature is just like that eh! So my best find for me yesterday will be featured in another…
Are you hyper sensitive to smells? No one would ever accuse me of that. LOL. Sometimes, Shirley could not believe that I could not smell. However, she loved to tell a story about that. It goes like this. While down at BRIT, someone tested hers. They put before her specimens of Hedeoma. These were old…
Even though I had just been to the same place, I always expect to find something different. This First Wed was no exception! To summarize, it was great to be out with fellow nature appreciators! Moreover, the heat did not stop our enjoyment! And thank you to Jerry for sharing his photos! Meet Diane Nash,…

More good stuff 🙂 Pussy toes (Antennaria parlinnii)! Did you think it was going to be a kitty cat? 😉 This was a favorite plant that Shirley liked to show me in Cooke County. It was certainly easier to see there since it was on the roadside. Pussy Toes (Antennaria parlinnii) are in the Asteraceae…
Rain drops made this interesting pattern on sandy loam in our woods. Colorful inside of a grasshopper leg. The color jump out as I walked along the path! A Mexican plum flower blown off in the storm yesterday. Petals have already dropped. The sepals look like a starfish! Ten-petal Anemone with a small bee….
Don’t think I have ever notice a katydid (Orchelimum) of this color before. Ornate Box Turtle eating a grasshopper. Yum! I always take a top shot to compare to old photos of mine to see if it has been here at my house before. I last saw this one on Sept 24, 2016. Can’t get enough…
