Fossil Hill (part 8)

Now we were heading deeper into the rocky areas of the woods. The boulders were amazing!

Poison Ivy (Toxicodendron radicans) shiny new leaves! Tis the season eh.

Deeper into the woods we go!

A magnificent rock that reminded us of an eagle!

The eagle’s head!

A closer look revealed the pebble drip below the knob.

The hole in the rock!

Of course, it was a photo op.

Pay back from my side of the hole. However, Jeanne was not as disheveled as I usually am. LOL

The lichens are incredible!

Wonderful color!

Closer still! The lichen looks like a mosaic of tiles. This crustose form is called areolate.

Two more posts to go on Fossil Hill!

Photoluminescence in the Garden dormouse (Eliomys quercinus)

Keep looking!
