On top in Montague

In this special place, the highest point offers many wonders!

This was looking up to the highest point at this special place, the Garnett Preserve. Focus on the fuzzy bush in front of the tree.

Jeanne and I both thought the Prairie Baccharis (Baccharis texana) actually is more beautiful going to seed as shown here. When in bloom it has tiny yellow flowers. Also this plant was said to be wide spread west of east Texas before 1900. (FNCT)

Love the coma (fluff)!

Redroot or Jersey Tea (Ceanothus herbaceus) was also on top the hill! Indeed, fall offers a different look to the plants.

The view from the top was spectacular!

A holy/holey Prickly Pear (Opuntia) pad!

Both the Green Lynx Spider and the Eryngo were on the prickly side. LOL. You got to love them both!

The Basketflowers (Centaurea americana) must have been awesome in the spring. Now we admired the spent inflorescences. So we headed down the hill for more discoveries in tomorrow’s post!

    1. Claire, you might find something similar in the Arbuckle Mountains / Chickasaw NRA south of you. Just a guess as I haven’t explored there much…yet.
