Scouting for July 6th First Wed

A few days (July 3th) before the First Wed, it was time to scout. I had not been to this unit in awhile. Always nice to know what to expect. πŸ™‚

Before I made it my destination, I found a Red-eared Slider in the road! It was covered with mud!

Blue Mud-plantain (Heteranthera limosa) at the pond!

Close up! Can’t wait to show the group on First Wed! It prefers shallow water.

The rushes’ seed heads are absolutely colorful!

At a campsite, Flesh Flies (Sarcophagidae) were busily working on fresh entrails.

If you remember in the previous post I told you about the differences between the Blow Flies and Flesh Flies (Sarcophagidae). Here you can clearly see the red “tail” that are characteristic to Flesh Flies.

Tomorrow, I will share the finds for the actual First Wed which was on July 6th.

  1. Love the plantain and rushes seed heads. Both beautiful. I bet July 6th group were impressed. I am.
