A few days (July 3th) before the First Wed, it was time to scout. I had not been to this unit in awhile. Always nice to know what to expect. π
Before I made it my destination, I found a Red-eared Slider in the road! It was covered with mud!
A Green Lynx Spider waits for a morning meal!
A Prairie Gaillardia (Gaillardia aestivalis) waits for seed disperal!
This Prairie Gaillardia (Gaillardia aestivalis) was well on its way!
Blue Mud-plantain (Heteranthera limosa) at the pond!
Close up! Can’t wait to show the group on First Wed! It prefers shallow water.
The rushes’ seed heads are absolutely colorful!
At a campsite, Flesh Flies (Sarcophagidae) were busily working on fresh entrails.
If you remember in the previous post I told you about the differences between the Blow Flies and Flesh Flies (Sarcophagidae). Here you can clearly see the red “tail” that are characteristic to Flesh Flies.
Tomorrow, I will share the finds for the actual First Wed which was on July 6th.
Love the plantain and rushes seed heads. Both beautiful. I bet July 6th group were impressed. I am.
