A lot…

So did you think I was going to title the second post from the Caddo as the “Second Day”? Actually I was until we had finished the day.

Right off the bat, Jeanne found a moss to collect. Here she is writing the necessary voucher notes.

This is a capsule from Funaria moss she collected. So pretty!

Blackberries were starting to bloom!

A tiny katydid on the tiny Dwarf-dandelion (Krigia cespitosa)!

This might be a pear tree blossom. The tree had a lot of beautiful flowers!

A black beetle!

Next insect was this Eastern-tailed Blue! Many crossed our paths as we searched for Wild Indigo. None ever sat still…too much coffee? LOL

The Goatweed Leafwing was another species that we saw. Also we had three Monarchs, a Juniper Hairstreak, cloudywings or dustywings, and a Variegated Fritillaries. Quite the butterfly day! But wait…

TWENTY FROSTED ELFINS! Yes, we had twenty of these guys pop up as we surveyed through a ten acres patch of Yellow Wild Indigo. The plant is still not blooming but the adults have started to emerge from the pupation stage. It was another great day at the Caddo NG!

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.
