First day

Today was the first day of the camping trip for the Frosted Elfin survey at Caddo NG! Fingers crossed for success!

A sunrise walk at home before we headed out for Caddo NG. The Brewer’s Blackbirds lined the power lines.

Gracie was pleased that she got to take us there. However, Jim and Gracie did not stay for long.

Lunch at our camp site. Then Jim and Gracie headed back home. Jeanne and I are set to start the survey. We still had the afternoon so we drove over to the Ladonia Unit. Let the fun began!

We covered ground that we already knew had Wild Indigo (Baptisia sphaerocarpa). We found the new shoots right off the bat! Smiles!

Can you see the little black spot about a foot in front of me?

A little closer 🙂

Here is the object of the search! The Frosted Elfin! We only found one! Do we have good karma or what?

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.
