Sprung!

Sure felt like spring has sprung today!

Prairie Verbena! This is the second verbena that I have seen blooming!

Ten-petal Anemone! This two toned one is just gorgeous! Enjoy them while you can because they will be gone by the end of April.

Gracie checks her P-mail!

Fringed Puccoon (Lithospermum incisum)! Another sign of spring! So this one will be gone by the end April as well.

A stunning white Ten-petal Anemone!

Johnny-jump-ups are still out. Catch them while you can!

A feather! Maybe the ex-owner was molting?

My first of season Crow-poison (Nothoscordum bivalve)!

It won’t be long until the hummers and the scissortails are back. My neighbor’s Purple Martins are back.

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.

  1. Scott and I hiked the Ned and Genie Fritz Texas Buckeye trail Friday and saw our first Scissortail Flycatcher. We also saw many Texas Bucheyes (Aesculus glabra var. arguta) from babies to some 50′ tall specimens.

    1. Alan and Suzanne, Looks like I will be seeing a scissortail soon too then. A sure sign of spring! Kathy has had hummers so they will be here any day too.

  2. Cheerful post! I went birding at Benbrook Lake on Friday and also saw my first-of-season scissortailed flycatcher.

  3. My anemones are blooming too. Goldfinches still here and in breeding colors. Juncos about gone. Spring is here but goldfinches dont seem to know it.
