Jackrabbit…

It started warm this morning, but by the time we did our morning walk, the temp fall to 51. We did get a little sunshine late this afternoon.

Giant Jackrabbit!

Ok, it is just the stump, but it certainly looks like one I thought LOL. However, I did actually see a real jackrabbit a couple of days ago. It was crossing the road on the back road out of Greenwood in the prairie.

Our Wild Plums have just started to bloom. The Mexican Plum also has started. Ohhh noooo, did someone forget to tell the trees, it is going to get cold again. Yikes!

Buttercup Blister Beetle was out.

The Eastern Tent Caterpillars are starting to hatch.

It is an easy species to watch their life cycle. Certainly is interesting seeing them change as they grow larger. Furthermore, they have their timing right with the trees budding. So even with the cold temperatures, the silk tent should protect them.

  1. What a pretty beetle. And i was just sure you had a jackrabbit. I havent seen one in ages. Glad you did.

  2. I’m excited that you saw a real jackrabbit! I haven’t seen one in ages. And we absolutely should be putting up solar arrays on top of roofs and redevelopment spaces, not ruining perfectly good wild habitat. Goodness knows we have plenty of opportunities to make those investments.

  3. So many places solar could be done. For examples, parking lots- thus we would have the benefit of shaded parking. car dealer lots. factories, malls, etc, etc, etc. Certainly seems like a win win to me.
