Toadly awesome!

LOL, I just could not resist. I am sure I hear some groans out there.

At the backdoor this morning, this toadly awesome Woodhouse Toad (Bufo woodhousii) was there to greet us.

I have not seen many toads this year so it was quite delightful.

On the afternoon walk, I reached down and I thought I was going to pick up a shiny shard of glass. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was an insect wing.

A cool clear delicate wing when I spread it out!

The Garden Spider (Argiope aurantia) or as we call it the Banana Spider. This is its underside.

Top view of this beautiful spider. It is the biggest one I found so far this season. It is about 1 1/4 inches.

Keep looking!

  1. Mother called them golden garden spiders. Ive actually caught grasshoppers to feed them. We have a toad too. Exciting.

    1. I suspect there are many names you reckon? It is exciting you have a toad too! I bet it like your pesticide free yard!
