Fall soon Sept 14

Spiny-aster  (Chloracantha spinosa) is a plant that likes to be near water or in a drainage area. The plant is sorta scraggly and just starting to bloom here.
Prickly Lettuce (Lactuca serriola) is an invasive but sure has a pretty seed head.

The Poodle skirt mushroom (just what I call it…not an official common name) is drooping, at least the skirt part.

Other side

Starting to emerge.
5 hours later someone had a meal?

Old Man of the Woods (Strobilomyces strobilaceus) is a species in the Boletaceae family. And I did not make up the common name. Love it!
Underside of above. Almost all bolete mushrooms have pores instead of gills.

Snake vertebrae

Do you recognize this? An armadillo shell is made of keratin like our finger nails. Notice the hairs.

I think the seed heads of plants are beautiful. This is a thistle (Cirsium).
Pecan chewed. Maybe it was not ripe enough for the squirrel??

Fall must be just around the corner?
