After seeing all the brightly colored Shirley’s Stars (Shooting Stars – Primula meadia), I hunted for a white one. Success!
Purple Coneflower (Echinacea angustifolia) were just getting started. Ahh, just wait a week. π
Most of the paintbrushes in Denise’s prairie were the Lemon Paintbrushes. However a few of annual Indian Paintbrush (Castilleja indivisa) were sprinkled in.
A few of the Celestial (Nemastylis geminiflora) were scattered in the prairie too.
Indian-turnip (Pediomelum cuspidatum)!
All the winecups here were the Standing Winecups (Callirhoe pedata)!
The one flowered Two-flower Milkvine (Matelea biflora). :-0
Indeed it had been hard for Callie to keeping track of my photographing. Furthermore the grass looked very refreshing!
As we finished up at the prairie near the house, Denise invited us to go look at a couple more places. Of course we couldn’t turn down an offer like that! So off we went.
I can’t wait to see where Denise took you next! Interesting article about the camouflaged jacobin nestlings. It amazes me that the species nests right out in the open like that photo illustrates!
Callie has the right idea. Thats a great prairie.
Yeah I almost wanted to join Callie π
