Chickasaw NRA

For the next few days Jim and I are camping and exploring the Chickasaw National Recreation Area near Sulphur, Oklahoma.

Let the adventure begin!
Parked!
Behind the camp I quickly started to find the treasures! Moss…checked.
A Cladonia lichen too!
Of course I had succumbed to the pull of a dry gully. ๐Ÿ˜‰
No surprise that the gully fed the nearby lake.
First wildlife friend!
Second friend was in a bit of a pickle.
So I lent a hand to the my friend the Earth-boring Beetle (Geotrupes). ๐Ÿ™‚
Here was a mystery sign. We had no idea what it was trying to convey. Do you? So I flagged down a park employee to ask. She hadn’t noticed the sign either and had no idea what it was for either. Well, we exchanged phone numbers so she could find out for me. An hour later she texted me with an answer. Have you figured it out yet? It meant that you could get food at the bait shop down the road. It certainly was a new one for me. ๐Ÿ™‚

What a great start to our camping trip!
