More from the Hagerman NWR!
A Krider’s Red-tailed Hawk! No eagles that day but they are in the area.
A Great Blue Heron had a mouth full with a big ole catfish! A Yellowlegs in the back watched.
A Wilson’s snipe (Gallinago delicata) was drilling in the mud for their meal.
As we were heading out the geese had moved closer to the road. And Gypsy thought… now this was worth seeing! 🙂
There were several thousands.
Most were Snow Geese. I did spot a Ross Goose among them. Also Jack Chiles had reported Cackling Geese as well which I didn’t see.
The conversations were loud!
So if you have not been to Hagerman’s in awhile, pile into the car before the geese are gone. It will be worth it!

Makes one wonder what all the fuss is about – getting reacquainted?
Or trading gossip. 😉
Those are great pictures Mary. Beautiful place.
Happy that we could share the outing☺️
Beautiful photos and I love seeing Gypsy having an adventure with the geese. ♥️
It’s always fun to see our furry friend enjoying nature as much as I do. ☺️
That is a big crowd of geese!
