Indeed a foggy start to the morning, eh! Well, at least at our house. 🙂
So I will continue on with Jan. 18th outing.
As we continued our walk a rock creature watched us. 😉
As I bent down to say hi to the rock creature the Cladonia lichen was beside it. These tiny (2-5mm) squamules belong to the Cladonia genius. In fact they can be found in the open or in the shade. Squamules are scale-like lobes that usually lift up one edge. You may remember posts of others in the Cladonia genus like the Pixie Cup Lichen (Cladonia peziziformis). This one did not have any fruiting bodies (podetia).
The small Common Split Gill (Schizophyllum commune) is a fairly common shelf type fungus in our area. Certainly small (an inch or so) but pretty.
Isn’t this cute? Looks just like a bugle corn chip. However not the color. LOL
Another shape!
So it took a few minutes to figure out that they were grape leaves. The backside was a mat of hairs (tomentose). Thanks Jeanne.
I love the carnival candy name. People shooting birds just makes me sick.😡 But how to stop it?
