After Dark

It is another world after dark.

The sun was disappearing for the evening on Dec. 18th!

It was time to go back to the Lost Creek Trail in the dark!

Mosses reflect red.
Flashlight.
The rocks lining the trail are spectacular!
A closer view!
This was with just the regular flashlight. Just another kind of beauty.

UV!
Flashlight!
UV!

Flashlight!
Colorful crustose lichens. However this particular foliose lichen does not glow.
As you can see the foliose lichen was dull gray green.

It looked like that some the lichens have superpowers like Superman. Mild manner in the daylight. Then pop with super colors under the UV!

Hope everyone is getting a little bit of rain today. (Dec. 23th).

  1. The colors under uv light are really astounding. Somehow i like the colors we see better. Wonder why? Used to them maybe.
