Out Today

It was a morning spent at the grasslands in a creek bottom and the nearby bottomland. However you will have to wait for that until I get it all sorted and named.

So in the mean time I will be waiting for the rain. Today the sky did only a tiny bit of spitting. Fingers crossed for the upcoming week!
As we stepped out the backdoor for our early morning walk a Leaf Beetle (Leptinotarsa haldemani) was waiting for me. LOL. Do you remember the beautiful green one a few days ago? Here was another color variation.
The Mockingbird was busy eating breakfast at the American Beautyberry (Callicarpa americana) buffet.
The Mocker had enough of us gawking and moved to a higher lookout.
And just for fun a fungus. 😉 Do you think it just got tire?
Well, some fun guy came and left a bit of frass. LOL

On the way in the backdoor a Bent-line Dart (Choephora fungorum) was taking a rest at the threshold railing.

Surprisingly it stayed put all day! Surely it will take off soon.

  1. It took me a moment to find that mockingbird in the tangle of the beautyberry branches. And wow, I do love moth common names so much! That’s quite a pretty one too.
