Shirley Day

Oh boy, did you miss a fantastically beautiful day at the Thomsen Foundation today! In fact, it was cool enough that I even put on a light jacket in the morning!

It was a sign. LOL

The Genista Broom Moth (Uresiphita reversalis) were all over the Bluebonnets! And these were just the start of most incredible day of caterpillars.

American Lady caterpillars were numerous on the cudweed!

A Gray Hairstreak larva on the Bluebonnet! The Gray Hairstreak eats on lots of different plants. Another larva species in the shadows. I was actually more excited about the hairstreak. I think the other was probably another Genista Broom Moth.

True Bugs just hatched. Claire told us you know it is not a beetle because beetles make larvae.

Another American Lady caterpillar!
The group was just getting started!

So many caterpillars and fun stuff. More on the Shirley Day tomorrow! I know you are already sorry you couldn’t join us, eh!

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.
