On or beneath

The bottomlands main interest that day definitely was the trees. And what we found on or beneath them.

The green crustose lichen highlights the Hackberry’s fins.

Next to the green crustose lichen were a Virginia Creeper. Its roots clung ever so tight onto the fins.

A knob on the tree looked similar to a nest.

More small knobs on the Hackberry.

More green crustose lichen surrounds these small bumps on another Hackberry!

A chunky white fungus!

Neon green Chrysothrix lichen!

A Boxelder seed!

A weird looking cap. At first glance it appeared be a rusty piece of metal.

Top side. However, it was plant part. Perhaps off of a persimmon’s fruit?
