On Monday I had to pass on an opportunity for an outing. So I made request of Jeanne to take some photos to show me what I had missed. Goodness, I missed a good outing. Here are Jeanne’s photos. And thanks Jeanne!
The Old Zoo Nature Trail was their destination located in Cisco, TX. Eastland County is in the Western Cross Timbers ecoregion.
The nature trail is less than a mile long. However, Jeff, Suzanne, Jeanne, Kim and Ray took three hours. Hey they are nature nerds. So to wet my appetite, Jeanne took all of these photos.
A Christmas Cactus or also called Cholla Pencil Cactus (Cylindropuntia leptocaulis).
The path was lined with Prickly Pear cactus (Opuntia).
Prickly Pear with an old wall.
A wooden bridge leads up to the stone steps. The Alltrails website says it is an easy trail. However, if you have any mobility issues it might not be so easy.
What a gorgeous shot of the golden glochids!
The trees framed this shot of the lichen covered rocks and an old wall.
Wonder why they named it the Spider Rock Trail? Did someone see a lot spiders there?
Another part of the trail.
So many lichens!
The rocks, lichens, and mosses…oh my!
More of Jeanne’s photos tomorrow!
Keep looking!
The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know
Thanks Jeanne. Looks like a beautiful place.
You were GREATLY missed. Next time for sure!
I am looking forward to it!
What a neat place! Glad that group cleaned it up and made it accessible.
