A Day in the Field

Hearing from several of you, I found that not many got any real rain yesterday. And that was disappointing with all that buildup, eh.

Starting my morning with a Northern Harrier that sailed passed us on the Gracie walk before heading out for a day in the field.

First stop was at the Flat-topped-goldenrod (Euthamia gymnospermoides). This is a special Shirley plant. In addition, the late botany specialist for the goldenrods including Euthamias, Connie Taylor also came to see it via Shirley.

Here is a single flower.

Milkweed pods nearby were covered with yellow aphids.

Another milkweed pod had an opinion. It said you better go thata way! And so we did. LOL.

Indeed, I took a lot of photos today of interesting stuff. So this will be all today until I can sort through the photos. 🙂

Keep looking!

    1. I find eleven synonyms in the WFO plant list. So that really doesn’t answer your question exactly. The FNCT says that in the early 1980’s some lumped in with Solidago or even one (Conquist) suggested it was more close related to Gutierrezia (Broomweed).
