Vulture Fans

So Edgar has fans including me! Suzanne had a comment a few days ago about Edgar. She said “I hope you’re able to get a pic when it fledged sitting on the roof with its parents.” So with this in mind, the wildlife camera was set up this morning!

Sunrise! First we take Gracie for her morning walk.

This is a bit gross. However, I have never seen a vulture vomit before. This vulture was in the woods and on take off, it did this. I was happy we were not right under it. I am not sure of the species.

First view of Edgar on our morning walk.

Edgar contemplating. What will I do in my abode today?

After our breakfast had been eaten, it was time for the camera set up.

The vultures egress from this side. Despite that half of the roof is missing from the old well house, it makes a fine vulture nursery.

While we were fixing up the ladder, Jim then noticed Edgar was on top the well bladder!

In fact, it was wing stretching time!

So I decided to get my chair and sit under the tree to watch.

Gracie came too!

Both parents were watching. Would they come? Nope. And I sat there until lunch.

Then as I sat, a Diamondback Spittlebug (Lepyronia quadrangularis) came for visit on my drawing paper.

While I waited, it seemed like a good time to practice my drawing.

So I sat again after lunch without Gracie. Of course she had enough of the heat and went back home. The extended family (?) were sailing above in the afternoon.

One of them lost a feather!

Now, hopefully we will get to see Edgar’s first flight! Indeed my fingers are crossed.

  1. Yes very nice drawing! Looking forward to hearing or seeing what you find on the camera. I have so enjoyed my game camera over the years. The axis deer carcass being the best experience. It was amazing to see what goes on when you aren’t around.

    1. Kathy, you got some amazing critters coming to the deer carcass. And they seemed to take turns as they each got their fill. Pretty cool!

  2. You are such a good artist. Drawing is really good. And that pic of bees that won an award is fascinating. Your camera might catch Edgar flying off.
