More Treasured Plant Friends

Further down the road, more treasured plant friends.

A beautiful hillside had several old friends!

In the above photo, this is a close up of the clumps of green. It is the Queen’s Delight (Stillingia texana). It is only found on the limestone soils.

So did you notice the pink in the first photo? Mountain-pink (Zeltnera beyrichii syn- Centaurium beyrichii) are just the perfect pre-made bouquets!

Really pretty pink!

Several of my volunteer searchers from past years will recognize these leaves!

Narrow-leaf Morning-glory (Ipomoea shumardiana)! I am sorry to report that this at risk flower got a bit of a set back where the county had done some some side road work. 🙁 However, the landowner just a short distance away was being a good steward for the plant which is where I took the photos.

Some along the gravel road were covered in the gray dust. I got plenty of the dust on me too.

Another stop to check on the only known location in North Texas of the Large Beardtongue (Penstemon grandiflorus). The plant is commonly found on the Great Plains. This is another special and secret location per Shirley.

The Whorled Milkweed (Asclepias verticillata) on their pedestals! It was next to the Large Beardtongue. One more post for the June 22 drive-about tomorrow.

Edgar! Seventy-two days old!

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.
