Running water

Mother nature came through last night! We got 1.63″

The sound of running water can’t be beat! Thank goodness for the rain last night!

Now continuing on with yesterday outing!

Jerry took this shot of the group next to a small pond.

Boots on the ground! Jerry took this shot as well. I am sure a discussion must have been taking place about the grass in front. I think I remember the grass as Carolina Jointgrass. Thanks Jerry!

Closeup of the dark anthers of the Carolina Jointgrass (Coelorachis cylindrica)! Each joint will be a new seed!

Still water on the large pond was like a mirror!

Reakirt’s Blue (Echinargus isola)!

Kooky galls on Silver-Leaf Nightshade (Solanum elaeagnifolium)!

Last flower at our turn around point! It is the Hopi Tea Greenthread (Thelesperma megapotamicum)! This is the further known eastern occurrence of this species. It is common in the west.

Ok, I fibbed. This is the final flower. Sorta like a white flag, eh. And I was getting hungry. This is False Gaura (Stenosiphon linifolius). So time to head back to the vehicles and lunch!

A yellow-bellied water snake left a wake. Great day!

The world’s largest plant is a 112-mile-long seagrass in Australia

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.

    1. I have not. Definitely not the Hopi Tea Greenthread, there was not enough of a population for that. I might try our common Greenthread (Thelesperma filifolium) we have, but it has not really been a good year for it around our house.

  1. I’m trying to remember if we’ve ever found the Hopi Tea greenthread when I’ve been with you. I’d like to see it sometime.
