Despite the heat, we had another splendid day. Today, Cyndee joined us. Cyndee lives in the area and volunteers at the Caddo NG. So we had a local guide! It was great! Thanks Cyndee for joining us today!
While we searched the Cream Wild Indigo (Baptisia bracteata), wrapped in a leaf was a Wild Indigo Duskywing (Enynnis baptisiae) caterpillar! Appropriately it was on the Baptisia. This was the second one we have found on the Baptisia!
Next, was this weird color gall shaped like Aladdin lamp!
The genie was hiding in the “inner sanctuary”. And it is not a caterpillar, but it is a larva. LOL.
Fall Webworm caterpillar (Hyphantia cinea) on Greenbriar.
No idea what kind of caterpillar this is, but sure was trying to blend in with the oak leaf.
It was mimicking the hairy back of the leaf!
A very tiny hornworm on a grape leaf!
A has-been cat 😉 It is a bird dropping moth.
A future cat, the monarch!
Keep looking!
The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.

I love that moth. Would have fooled me. And great pic of monarch egg.

Yep it pays to look at bird poop😂
I love baby hornworms. Just like puppies with the oversized tails.
Especially cool to find a tiny hornworm cat!
Claire has got it right😂
