Next stop

After our adventure with the horses and the Baptisia, we continued on for more fun! It was a drive-about Montague County day!

One of Shirley’s favorite flowers, the Shooting Star (Dodecatheon meadia)! It is now blooming! It was also blooming on my very last outing with Shirley. A great memory!

This one will be going to BRIT herbarium!

A Scissortail held still just long enough for this shot. I love their chatter. In addition to the Scissortails, Dickcissels, Great Crested Flycatchers, kingbirds, and Painted Buntings are back as well!

Lemon Paintbrush (Castilleja purpurea var citrina)!

Nestled low to the ground, the Texas Star or Yellow Star (Lindheimera texana) is a standout!

The little Blue Flax (Linum pratense) is a tough shot when the wind is a blowing! LOL. However, I hope you will seek it out among the other showier flowers.

Tall -bread Scurf-pea (Psoralea cuspidata) a great spring flower! More tomorrow and a mystery plant!

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.

  1. Scissortail might be my favorite bird. Just gorgeous. And like Shirley, shooting stars might be my favorite flower. Thanks for the great pics.

  2. I got so many favorites of birds and flowers and bugs, etc. It is sorta like… whatever I admiring in the moment. 🙂

  3. I don’t think I could bear to dig up a shooting star, even for science. Same for trout lilies and blue funnel lilies. You’re a brave woman and a true professional.

  4. Glad to see the Shooting Stars are blooming. I’ll have to make a trip up to the area to see them in person. Indeed the Shooting Stars were mother’s favorite.
