With nine nature lovers, we stopped often.

The Prickly Pear cactus was a gorgeous red!

A soapberry tree was along the side of the park road. Mistletoe had taken root. Mistletoe is the host plant for the Red-spotted Purple butterfly. And the soapberry tree is a host plant for Soapberry Hairstreak!

The berries of the soapberry are slightly translucent unlike the China berry tree.

The Common Reed (Phragmites australis) flags stood tall!

A gray feather!

Galls clung to the tree!

Jeanne found this collection of two types of snails and an insect part.

On a blooming note, the Johnny-jump-up (Viola bicolor) has.. well jumped up today at our house!

And Happy National Pi Day!
