Warm yesterday, cold today

Yesterday, I told you that I made it outside. Of course, this meant Jeanne and I were out and about. Naturally, there were treasures to be seen.

First treasure was this doe skull!

Top view!

Second, was this black string of pearls…deer scat.

Winter makes it easy to find so much! Here is the cocoon of a Polyphemus Moth (Antheraea polyphemus)!

Next treasure, a swollen branch from insects. Exit holes were evident.

A three legged log! Looks like a creature of some kind. However I can not decide which end is the front. I can see something both ways LOL.

Evidence of a fire from fifteen or so years ago.

Lichens had started homes on the charred remains! And this is where I will stop today and will continue on with more treasures tomorrow from the outing.

Last, but not least, Jim spotted this Barred Owl on our morning walk!
I am uncertain if this is the same Barred Owl from the morning, but the crows were certainly giving it heck this afternoon.

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.

    1. Thanks, I forgot to make a note of what the swollen branch was on. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Poor owl and I hope it stays around.
