Running water

The water at the grotto was running yesterday. There is something about running water that is so soothing!

The grotto was awesome! We got a half inch rain about a week ago. We live fifteen minutes from the grotto, but the grotto could have gotten much more.

So many different kinds of crustose lichens!

A frosty or powdery layer on the upper thallus/cortex is pruina. It is typically made of calcium oxalter or dead cortical tissue. So the lichen in the middle is pruinose.

Always looking under rocks, we found this spider. Really blends in!

Trees have such strong wills I would say. It seems nothing stops them, even rocks. Tomorrow, I will share the most exciting fossil find of the outing!
