Wow, it has been a month since I have been to the grasslands! Certainly, have missed it. And today was the perfect weather for the outing!
Before I left the house, royalty sent me off! This Queen was warming up for the day. Update: What was I thinking…this is a Viceroy. Thanks Suzanne!
The dampness of the air brought out the colors of the grasses. However, what was really cool were all the Palafoxia (Palafoxia callosa). This was a huge patch of it! Because it is a rather wispy plant, it is hard to see in this photo. The Palafoxia are the little whitish heads in the photo.

Because of the rain a few days, ago, we counted multiple of the rain lilies! In fact, after starting to count them, we stopped counting after a dozen.
Always a delightful find! I will continue on in tomorrow’s post, of the sights we saw today at the grasslands.
