Laguna Prieta Trail

We enjoyed the park so much the day before, we decided to go again. We had plenty more trails to choose from! This post is all on the Laguna Prieta Trail. So my brother and his wife decided to come along with us this time. They had not been before because it had always had long lines to get in when they previously had tried for a visit. We were the good luck charm…LOL!

Can you ever see too many cool rocks?

A worn Black Swallowtail!

Beautiful crustose lichens!

A hueco! A hueco means hollow and that is where the water pools. They told us in some of the huecos there were a type of shrimp, but we never saw any 🙁 Maybe another trip eh!

A narrow passage!

The seed pods of the Wooten’s Devil’s claw (Proboscidea parviflora) were so fuzzy and pretty!

Marlyn (sister-in-law) sharp eyes spied this mushroom (possibly Podaxis pistillaris)!

I thought the rock on top looked like a giant lizard peering out!

Wow, there were ferns!

Wavy Scaly Cloakfern (Astrolepis sinuata)! Indeed this was a new one for me. The individual leaflet look like Christmas trees. We saw a lot of stuff on the Laguna Prieta Trail so I will continue with this trail in the next post!

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know

  1. I love the lizard rock! We didn’t get to hike the Laguna Prieta Trail – it took us so long to get in the park and watch the movie that we had little time to actually walk around. Lucky you!

  2. Thank you so much for giving us this tour. Before I read your caption I thought hey there is an iguana on that rock!
