Monahans

State parks are wonderful! And when we are out west, we almost always stay overnight at Monahans Sandhills State Park. We just love all that sand!

At this time of year, the Plains Sunflower (Helianthus petiolaris) is just awesome! Look in the sand for the critter tracks.

Little bees are frequent visitors to the flowers.

Next is this flower which is also abundant now. It is Heleotropium convolvulaceum. Locally it is called Bindweed Heliotrope and it favors sandy areas of the southwest.

This is a top view of the Heliotrope!!

Keep looking!

The more you know, the more you see and the more you see, the more you know.
