Yesterday, I mentioned that we spent a good deal of time at our first stop. As you can gather by now, we go slow. This means you can find more. 🙂 At the first location, we continue to search on.
In most instances, Anglepod (Gonolobus gonocarpos) requires some searching to find the flowers. We also looked for the pods, but none were found this time.
Next up, is the Swamp Milkweed Leaf Beetle (Labidomera clivicollis)! It is a new beetle for me. Not surprisingly with milkweed in its name, the host plants are milkweeds and milkvines. All of these plants are in the subfamily Asclepiadacieae.
Following the beetle, we then came across the Milkweed Tussock Moth (Euchaetes egle)!

Jeanne picked it up. It definitely did not want to sit still.
Finally, we able to see its head! The best way to know which end was which, was by the direction it crawled. LOL. As the name implies, it also likes the Anglepod for its host plant.
In this instance, these two have fallen to their demise in a spider web. But a lucky spider gets a two-fer!
Briefly, an update on the last bluebird nestling at home…it is doing great! Won’t be long now before it will be on its own.

That is the same Milkweed Tussock cat that I found on Anglepod in Celina years ago. They remind me of the Shihtzu dogs. No idea how to spell that but you all know what I mean.

Wonder if the bluebird is a relative of the one that laid white eggs or if it just happens sometimes.
Hope the Act passes. Good question about the bluebird. I would think that would be pretty hard to study do you think?

Same cat eh. LOL it must have traveled a long ways and had a long childhood 😉 And I know the exact breed you are talking about. Good comparison!
