As I mentioned yesterday Denise invited us to see two more places. And we were happy to go!
The first bonus site had a few of the Shooting Stars (Primula meadia)!
The Celestials (Nemastylis geminiflora) out numbered the Shooting Stars by a bunch.
Near the fence was a number of the Wild-blue Hyacinth (Camassia scilloides)!
Texas Star or Yellow Star (Lindheimera texana)!
At the second bonus site was an old windmill tank with the blades. A Pokeberry grew beside the tank.
At this location we found the native Texas Bindweed (Convolvulus equitans)! Notice the projections or points on the corolla. Additionally the leaves are thinner.
A beautiful patch of Bladderpod (Physaria gracilis) and Prairie Verbena (Glandularia bipinnatifida)!
Yep the Lemon Paintbrushes (Castilleja citrina) were showing off!
As we walked back, a cottontail darted out of its nest. Then the cottontail scared a sparrow up as they ran off.
Two-flower Milkvine (Matelea biflora). And this time with two flowers. LOL.
Patience paid off for the crab spider on the Firewheel (Gaillardia pulchella)!
Denise’s family has really been a great land steward to their family’s legacy in Cooke County. Thank you Denise for sharing!
Catherine and I headed off towards one more destination before heading home.
Oh my. I could sit and gaze at Denise’s gorgeous prairie for hours. I’m grateful for their stewardship.
A special place and there are several other good stewards families just like Denise’s in the same area! Yeah👏🏻👏🏻
I have never heard of bone collector caterpillars. How creative. Never heard of vampire moths either. Isn’t nature amazing!!
Sure is!!!
What beautiful prairies Denise is protecting!
That curlew puppet is super – almost asgood as the bone collector cat.
So wonderful!
