Indeed a stunning neon green lichen (Chrysothrix) on a root. This is a crustose lichen that looks liked it was spray painted on the substrate. (Jerry).

As you might imagine the Purple Cliff Brake fern is a common fern on the grasslands trails. However there is nothing common about its beauty that Jerry captured in this photo. The brown edges are where the spores are produced.
The Ganoderma fungus was holding up well since I saw it last week. This genus will stand for several months before decomposing. (Jerry)
Unlike the Jack O’Lantern (Omphalotus) had. However it was still beautiful! (Jerry)
A contrail that looked like a strand of DNA! It was a sign of what the nature nerds are made of on the First Wed on a Monday outing. LOL
