Look up or down

Having come to the end of the first ravine, we struck out to find another. And it was not too much further down along the fence line.

We were now back into a narrow ravine again. Sure hope you have been out to enjoy the colorful fall leaves!

The bright green moss provided the perfect backdrop for the shelf fungus on the fallen tree!

A most beautiful polypore fungus with the rich brown body and ochre edges!

We stopped at a pond that we had only visited a week ago. It was dry then. The rain put a small amount back in it. I am sure the frogs were happier!

We look down a lot, but sometimes we just have to gaze upwards. The sky was sure was blue that day. 🙂

Jeanne said wait! I had just stepped right over the snake! I should have looked down instead of focusing so much on the incline up. 😉

The Rough Green Snake was pretty wiggly. And it left its musky smell on Jeanne. A little water and that washed right off.

Adventures require looking down, but also up.

  1. Love photos taken up towards the top of trees and how it gives a very long tall feel.
And can you imagine what a snake thinks when it is caught. Most things that catch a snake probably kill and eat it. Beautiful snake!

  2. Nice encounter with the rough green snake! They are so well-camouflaged I’m sure many aren’t noticed in the summer when the leaves are a brighter green. The fall color this year has been spectacular!

  3. I think it was the timing of the rain and cool temps that triggered the color change. I can never remember but it is either dry fall or wet fall that makes for a colorful leaf year. We started dry then turned wet.
