Continuing on with the outing at the Garnett Preserve.
The bucks have been busy as of late as shown on this sapling. We ran across probably a half dozen rubbings. The male deer are trying to rub off the velvet from their antlers or to leave a scent. The scent communicates a challenge to other bucks and potentially attracting a mate.
Trees are individuals too! This Post Oak had real deep furled bark at its base.
A tiny seed had landed on the bark.
Next a grass vomit pile from perhaps a canine type. At least that is what Gracie’s looks like when she eats grass.
Next a log with different looking shelf fungus!
It was interesting because of the texture of the top of the fungus.
A similar type seed as above, also stuck here.
Another type of fungus on the same log! They are tiny.
