It Didn’t Pop

So much cooler today than yesterday. Today 98, yesterday 99. LOL.

Yellow Compass Plant (Silphium laciniatum) are blooming!
A side view!
A bud!

Another bud with the clear sap! The Plains Apache gathered the sap and chewed for gum, though it had a bitter taste. (Source: Plains Apache Ethnobotany, Julia A. Jordan)
A Carolina Mantis (Stagmomantis carolina) had chose to hang out too!
They looked at me while I looked at them. 🙂
Just next to the Compass plant in the grass was a Blatchley Walkingstick (Manomera blatchleyi – tentative).
BugGuide says this species has a longer head and lacks a spines under the hind femora verses the Diapheromera species.
The moon was full yesterday but this morning it was still at 99%. And it didn’t pop! 😉

It was a fine day!
