Winding Down

The Bob (Quail) survey season is almost over. This was from yesterday’s survey points. Today was the last.

Certainly one of the benefits of getting up early, the sunrise!
OMG, it is always pretty.
The Leavenworth’s Eryngo (Eryngium leavenworthii) will soon be sporting their purple heads. Moreover the pollinators can’t wait.

As I listen for the Bobs I stepped on the Drummond’s False Pennyroyal (Hedeoma drummondii). Its peppermint aroma filled the air.
The Golden Dalea (Dalea aurea) heads are mostly fluffy now.
Tall Grama (Bouteloua pectinata) has finished.
Many of the Green Milkweeds (Asclepias viridis) are still fluffing. 🙂

We also checked nest boxes after the Bob survey. And we found a new chickadee nest started!

A very nice day even though we heard no Bobs.

If you know Irene Hanson, she was in a car accident a few days ago. Wishing her a speedy recovery!
