Ending on a Sweet Note

The last day the attendees had thinned out. But we were certainly glad we didn’t cut it short.

On the last day we were in the swing of things. Actually we did another early morning walk on a trail. They had several spots for picnicking and swings.
Rain Lilies (Zephyranthes chlorosolen) were scattered on the grounds. On the way home we saw many on the roadside.

Really big oaks!
This little milkvine was a new one for me, a Bearded Swallow-Wort (Metastelma barbigerum). Certainly it was a beauty!
Finally a Chickenthief or Stickthief (Mentzelia oligosperma) was close enough to the trail for photo. 🙂

On the last day, the presentations were about community & cultural engagement. And the Cherokee Township Garden Program and Heirloom Seeds was the only one with audience participation. 🙂 They were harvesting the corn.

Three Cherokee words.

The last word, wado!

We were headed home. Moreover we took the sweet route home. 🙂

Indeed it was a wonderful conference with new friends and new knowledge!

  1. Big oaks were really wonderful. Almost as wonderful as going around a chocolate shop sampling to your hearts content.
