No Hurries

We continued on across the prairie!

As we walked along we stirred up a whole of bunch of the Five-banded Thynnid Wasps (Myzinum quinquecinctum)! Furthermore I was able to use the handy dandy pill bottle to catch one for a close look.
The Yellow Puffs (Neptunia lutea) were a noticeable part of the prairie’s plant community!
As was the Roundhead Prairie Clover (Dalea multiflora)!

The Whorled Milkweeds (Asclepias verticillata) represented the milkweeds. At least by being the most abuntant.

Their flowers make me think of dancers with skirts!

Weevils have such interesting antenna! The antenna is bent and on the rostrum (long snout). The biting mouth is at the end of rostrum.
Seek went with Hairy Fimbristylis (Fimbristylis puberula). Looked good to me but one should key it out if really serious. Which I am not this time. LOL. However isn’t it really pretty!
The Soft Golden-aster (Bradburia pilosa) was highlighted with the morning sun!

Still on the prairie we were getting closer to why we had come to this particular prairie. No hurries though, we didn’t want to miss anything.
