Tiny and Glowing

Now I was heading into the woods!

This pond was my target destination that day. And this meant I was going through the woods to get there. FYI the photo was taken after going thru the woods. 😉

Sandstone bottom in the ditch! Definitely leading me down. 😉

A thalloid liverwort on the sandstone!

Now I was in the woodlands. And my first fungi!
A small Fungus Moth (Metalectra) caterpillar was taking shelter! Additionally they probably had a meal. 🙂
I swear it was not me that knocked this one over. LOL.
An orange Bolete mushroom recognizable by the pores and no gills.
This was a giant for a larva at about 3cm! Researching at home, I now think they belong in the Caterpillar Hunter Beetles (Calosoma) subgenus Calodrepa. At least they look similar. LOL.
The Wood’s Ear (Auricularia) was still wet from the previous night’s rain.
Small but interesting fungus!
Cow patties are such wonderful habitat! I find the coolest stuff under and in this case on top! Actually I found two different clusters of this Purple Pinwheel (Marasmius haematocephalus -tentative)! Tiny and glowing!

Indeed, it had been a great day!
