The sunshine and the temperature made for a great day! We got 2.55″ yesterday.

Slimleaf Milkweed (Asclepias stenophylla) will be blooming any day. Furthermore this species of milkweed is considered rare by TPWD. We have it at home and it can be found on the LBJ NG.

The tiny Black Diabrotica (Diabrotica cristata) is frequent visitor on thistles (Cirsium).
Everyone probably recognizes the spit of the spittlebugs larva, right? Well, this is one of the species that does the spit, the Two-lined Spittlebug (Prosapia bicincta). So this unlucky adult got stuck on the sticky resin on a thistle.

Lateral-lined Sharpshooter (Cuerna costalis) on a Prickly Pear Cactus (Opuntia). Sure hope they don’t get stuck with the glochids!
What a name for a small click beetle, the Red-Shouldered Wireworm (Limonius auripilis). Auripilis means with golden hair. So they really are a hairy beetle. Certainly not something that I usually associate with a beetle. LOL.

Indeed nature always has a twist!
