Happy to be Back

So I love to see new places. But like Dorothy (Wizard of Oz) there is no place like home. 🙂

The dew was shimmering on the Bracted Plantain (Plantago aristata)!
A fly on the Firewheel (Gaillardia pulchella).
The mushroom shouts puhpowee!
The Fruit and Flower Chafers (Cetoniinae) are some of my favorite beetles. They can be found on many of the flowers all summer. Here was a Texas Flower Scarab (Trichiotinus texanus) on a thistle (Cirsium)!

Even the Winecup’s (Callirhoe involucrata) Winecup Blister Beetle (Pyrota discoidea) made me smile. A bonus was the white frass!

With a little persuasion the Giant Swallowtail cat poked out their horns (osmeterium)!

Oh yeah it is good to be back home!

  1. Always good to be home but good to go exploring too. It foes make home seem more special than it was before.
