Day 12 Trip

Rat Snake. The scales on a Rat Snake have a less prominent ridge than a Bull Snake.

The last day’s morning destination was the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness area to see another glacier, the Sawyer Glacier!

We started to see icebergs (large), bergy bits (medium sized ice bergs) and growlers (less than 2 meters). Fun names eh. 😊
Shapes were fun imaginative creatures!
Some were really blue! No color enhancement by me. Blues meant they were older.
The one might be a dragon! The bergs above the water’s surface are only about 10% of the total ice berg.
More shapes! And the clearer the bergs were the older the ice.
Gulls were taking a rest!
More!
We reached the Sawyer Glacier. They took us as close as they could. There is a lot of sediment close to the water’s surface as it pushes forward. We didn’t want to get stuck. For safety reasons there was two or more zodiacs each time.

Now we watched for the Harbor Seals that have been seen here.
