Day 07 Trip

Bois D’arc (Maclura pomifera) with sapsucker holes. So I wonder if they got a headache because it sure is one hard tree. 😉 Caddo NG.
The light rays are called Jacob’s Ladder.
Early morning rainbow. This bodes well for the day!
Deer to the left of the fallen tree. The branches are covered in mussels. The mussels go up on the branches for protection from the sea-stars.
Our morning activity was to take a zodiac ride. The naturalist/boat driver took us right to the shoreline.
Orange Sea Cucumbers (Cucumaria miniata)!

Green Sea Urchins!
Sea-stars!
Black Chiton (Katharina tunicata)! They kinda looked like roly poly bugs. LOL.
Leather Star (Dermasterias imbricata)! What a beauty!

Our exploring the shoreline was cut short. The whales were out further. So she hit the gas!

We have a movie of the Orcas! There were four of them. However the movie will have to wait until we get home.

Another fantastic day!

  1. Things I’ve never seen or even heard of. And the deer looks so small by that tree. Wonderful adventure.
