Rain Forecasted

Wednesday morning like many in our area was forecasted for rain. In Fannin County I estimated the rain would arrive by 10am. Not wanted to get soaked on the Caddo Grasslands we opted to just stay in Bonham SP, our camp spot. This allowed us to go for a morning walk and still get back before the rain.

We figured we had time to do part of the Armadillo Trail that we didn’t take on a previous day.
Same bunch of Inky Caps (Coprinopsis) but totally melted!
Next to the Inky Caps were these adorable cuties!
Some of the Inky Caps(Coprinopsis) margins curled inwards. So I think it resembled a caterpillar.
Oh my the Green Dragons (Arisaema dracontium)! This was a cool trail!
So this was a non-native, the Thorow-wax (Bupleurum rotundifolium). However the leaves were beautiful.

And the back side was even more interesting as the light highlighted the veins!

The Ganoderma fungus grew double in size from two days ago!
The Blue Wild Indigo (Baptisia australis var minor) were scattered along a good portion of the trail.
A tired Foxglove (Penstemon cobaea). It was laying on the ground. 🙂
More Green Dragons (Arisaema dracontium)!
Marbleseed (Lithospermum)!
Its hairs on the stem were a bit stiff and so pretty!

It had started to sprinkle so we took a turn to the road and quickly picked up the pace. No more looking!

We made it back just in time before the rain poured!

So we indeed had forecasted the arrival of the storm!

  1. I would love to see the earth without humans. And octopuses being the dominating species. What fun

  2. Wow, great group of photos! The old inky cap does look just like a caterpillar, and the Ganoderma looks like an ear. Super fun to find so much green dragon blooming too!
