Yesterday Jeanne and I were back in Fannin County for another spring survey at the Caddo NG. We camp at Bonham SP for the comforts of home. 🙂 We got there around noon so we checked out what’s new at the park.
First friend! A Pitted Mason Wasp (Euodynerus foraminatus) kept sticking its head in the little hole in the water faucet. Cute thing!
With the rest of the afternoon open, we headed to the Armadillo Trail. Somehow we had missed this trail in years past. A big ole tree had been taken down and these Inky Caps (Coprinopsis) surrounded the stump.
There were multiple groups around the stump. This bunch still had the young mushrooms before they start to disintegrate.
Wild Petunia (Ruellia nudiflora) played host to a group of Bupresid beetles!
Another cutie mushroom with a hairy fungus growing at the base!
Diving head first into an Old Plainsman (Hymenopappus scabiosaeus) flower. You can even see it thru the partial translucent flower.
A really tiny but wonderful cute jumping spider!
Frogfruit!
Of course the Phaon Crescent (Phyciodes phaon) was nearby since Frogfruit is their host plant!
Cute spider on the inky caps. Lots of pretty fungi.
Such a beautiful place!!
