Walked on Water

The Ladonia units at Caddo are in the Blackland Prairie.

A different Oxalis than I see in Wise County with the red. Some day I will look closer. 🙂 Still for now I just enjoy seeing them.
Plantain (Plantago virginica) blooming!
A very nibbled Drummond’s Stitchwort (Mononeuria nuttallii syn Minuartia drummondii). This was a new one for me.

Their sepals are not ribbed.

A more numerous one in the same genus, Starwort (Minuartia muscorum) or iNat name’s, Dixie Stitchwort (Mononeuria muscorum). Their sepals have 3-5 ribs.

The shiny Prairie Buttercup (Ranunculus fascicularis)!
A small dock, the Hastate-leaved Dock (Rumex hastatulus)!
Second Frost Elfin!

Honked before we actually spotted them.
Off they flew!
The spider was at the edge. Then they dashed on top of the water. Yep they were walking on water. Love it!

What to know about Texas’ looming water crisis Thanks Suzanne!
